Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick inside the first 48 minutes of the match to lead Real Madrid back to the top of La Liga with a thrilling 4-2 at Leganes on Wednesday.
Zinedine Zidane made nine changes to the side that beat Alaves on Sunday, and the fringe players responded with aplomb as they ran out 4-2 winners over Leganes.
The visitors were off the block quickly as James Rodriguez broke the deadlock in the 15th minute before Morata scored a quick double inside five minutes to create a three-goal lead for Zidane’s side.
Leganes responded through close range finishes from Gabriel Pires and Luciano Neves in the next 15 minutes to peg things back at half-time. But Morata responded immediately after the break to round off a thrilling win for Real Madrid that took them back to the top of La Liga.
Los Blancos are now two points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table. Here are the best tweets emerging in the aftermath of a thrilling Real Madrid win.

Morata entered double figures for the season in the league with his hat-trick and some Real Madrid fans were of the opinion that Zidane would be better off playing the youngsters instead of the famed BBC trio.
No BBC and Real Madrid playing amazing football. Not surprised…

Real Madrid this season is more joyful and enjoyable without the BBC tbh, sad but true..

What does morata need to do to dislodge benzema? Or is it that BBC just sounds better than BBM? #FanLiveNG

Zidane’s tactics (no crossing football) only work with our B team or in other words, without BBC.
— K. (@khesraw_) April 5, 2017
Our best football has come when two members of BBC don’t play. We’ve also played well without Kroos and Modric at times
