Jurgen Klopp weighs in on Mohamed Salah Liverpool contract situation

Jurgen Klopp wishes for Liverpool to retain Mohamed Salah as he hopes the Egyptian signs a new deal with the club and prolong his stay at Anfield.

The subject of Mohamed Salah’s future is set to rumble on for the remainder of the season as a big decision on the forward awaits. Liverpool fans are delighted at his superb performances this season but equally dejected at the club’s failure to renew his terms.

Salah has been publicly vocal about his desire to stay at the club and previously claimed that Liverpool has not presented with an offer. With a new contract, the Egyptian will be expected to be one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

There’s massive interest coming from elsewhere, as Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad are confident of landiong Salah. The idea here for the Middle Eastern league is to sign the most high-profile Muslim star in the world.

Meanwhile, there’s the report surrounding Salah that the player wants to continue playing at the highest levels in Europe. There’s interest from PSG and Juventus in the forward, as they are keen to explore a deal for Salah ahead of his availability on a free transfer.

While Salah’s future remains a huge subject of debate, former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gave his thoughts as the German’s comments on Dominic King’s X post suggested he wants Salah to stay.

Klopp said, “I hope he stays. He is Liverpool’s best striker in modern times – and they had many great ones. A fantastic player, a fantastic professional. Absolutely outstanding. The best ambassador Egypt could have.”

Liverpool are indeed confident of agreeing on a new deal with Salah as well as Virgil van Dijk. Trent Alexander-Arnold is leaning towards a departure, as per all the latest reports on the right-back’s situation, as he is likely to sign up with Real Madrid on a free transfer.

As things stand, all three of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are running down their current deals. Liverpool are in real danger of losing their three most important stars in the same window on Bosman deals, which will make it very expensive for them to replace him.

Hence, they must renew at least two of those players with Salah and Van Dijk seeming like the most obvious ones. For now, there’s no decision made on the Egyptian, as fans will hope he stays for as long as possible at the club and keeps shining.
