Jurgen Klopp hailed Liverpool’s performance in the win over Manchester City as one of their best, as the Reds reached the FA Cup final.
Jurgen Klopp may deny it in the press, but his side are undoubtedly angling for the unprecedented quadruple this season. It may just be a dream, but Liverpool kept it alive as they crushed Manchester City’s hopes of a treble, ousting Pep Guardiola’s men out of the FA Cup.
Liverpool ran out 2-3 winners at Wembley, knocking the Premier League champions out of the competition. Sadio Made’s double after Ibrahima Konate’s opener gave the Reds a brilliant 0-3 half-time lead. However, Manchester City started knocking on the doors and pegged one back early in the second period through Jack Grealish.
Bernardo Silva then pulled a second goal back and the game had hallmarks of a nervy finish. Liverpool held their nerve and eked out a victory to reach their first-ever FA Cup final under Klopp.
The Reds’ boss hailed the performance as one of the best he’s witnessed his team play. Sky Sports quoted Klopp as he went on to praise his Liverpool side’s performance after a landmark victory over Manchester City.

Klopp said, “I think it was [one of our best performances]. That was the feeling I had when I saw the first half because of the quality of the opponent. We did all the right stuff, we scored in the right moments; we played an incredible game in the first half, I have to say. I loved each second of it.”
“To deny them in so many moments is so difficult, as is creating your own opportunities against them. The first half was outstanding in pretty much all parts of the game. In the second half, they scored an early goal like we did [at the Etihad], and then the game opened up.”
“No footballer on the planet is safe against City with a 3-1 lead, it is always clear what they can do. We needed Alisson, what a game he had, but we had our moments as well, and could have decided the game earlier. We didn’t do it, but that made the game even more special, 3-2 was a fair result and it was good enough to bring us to the final.”
Klopp will look back at the week that passed rather fondly. Having kept his Liverpool side firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title with a draw at the Etihad last Sunday, the Reds also qualified for the Champions League semi-finals after a nervy second leg with Benfica. Now that they have reached the FA Cup final, Klopp will surely dream of getting a shot at the unprecedented quadruple.
