French giants Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that they have signed German midfielder and Arsenal target Julian Draxler from Vfl Wolfsburg for £34 million

This brings to an end a long drawn out transfer saga involving Julian Draxler, where he was relentlessly linked with a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are believed to have been interested in Draxler since his early days at Schalke, and were reportedly poised to make a move for him sooner rather than later. However, the PSG move has laid all those rumours to rest.

Arsenal fans and the general football republic had some mixed reactions on Twitter. Some of them were surprised and saddened that the player didn’t head to the Emirates.

PSG are a club who probably have much more money to offer than Arsenal, with the Parisian giants owned by the free spending Qatar Investment Authority.

This was a factor that many Arsenal fans felt played a huge part in Draxler’s decision to move to France, despite having the option of competing in the Premier League with the Gunners.

Many other Arsenal fans took it upon themselves to point out that the speculation may have just been fanned by the tabloids to create a story. They claim that the Gunners haven’t been interested in Draxler in a long time.

There is no way to refute these claims, but Wenger and Arsenal’s long held interest has been widely reported to be fair.

Meanwhile, this lost soul has a question that has stumped us all.
