Liverpool suffered a hiccup in their pursuit of a Premier League Top 4 finish as a gritty Southampton side held them to a goalless draw at Anfield on Sunday.

In a timid display from the hosts, Jurgen Klopp’s men struggled to create chances throughout the match against a resolute Southampton side that didn’t leave an inch to be exploited. On the opposite end, the visitors failed to take a single shot at goal.

Midway through the second half, though, Liverpool finally got their best opportunity to finally break the deadlock as referee Bobby Madley awarded them a penalty. However, Fraser Forster was equal to the task of saving James Milner’s shot from the spot, and Southampton deservedly earned a share of the spoils.
