Jamal Musiala says Joshua Zirkzee tried to get him to sign for Manchester United

Jamal Musiala admitted that ‘close friend’ Joshua Zirkzee ‘kokingly’ asked him to join Manchester United in the summer window.

Jamal Musiala remains one of those exciting names in football, as the attacker seems destined for greatness in the future. Having broken through in this Bayern Munich side, the Bundesliga giants are anticipating huge offers to come in the future.

Musiala is a mainstay for Bayern as well as the German national side, meaning getting him won’t be straightforward for any club either in the Premier League or Spain. Moreover, the Bavarians are making significant efforts to ensure he spends the coming years at the club and could offer him an important contract.

Over in the summer, there were plenty of rumours regarding his future, as is the case with all top players. Musiala does have ambitions to play for the biggest club, and there are only very few of those larger than Bayern Munich as things stand.

Manchester United are certainly one of the biggest clubs, and for argument’s sake, they could be more significant than Bayern in many ways. However, in their current plight, they are barely competing for the Premier League title, nor are they in the Champions League, which does bring challenges in attracting the best talents in the market.

Nevertheless, Musiala admitted through his comments on Welt am Sonntag via Sport Witness that ‘close friend’ and new Manchester United signing Joshua Zirkzee tried to convince him to join forces at Old Trafford. The Bayern star admitted it was spoken for fun, and he, in turn, asked the Dutchman to make a return to Bayern Munich.

Musiala said, “You always joke around with friends and dream of playing together in a team one day. The jokes go both ways: I also told Josh that he should come back to Bayern. But you shouldn’t take that too seriously.”

Meanwhile, Musiala seems to be content with life at Bayern, although did not rule out a future move away from the club. He continued, “I am very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals with the club and the national team. I don’t think too much about where I will be playing in five years. Things can always change quickly in the world of football.”

As for his future, Musiala dreams of playing for Real Madrid, considering hos many outlets reported the links between the two during the summer. The Spanish giants are indeed interested, but his profile is not something they need immediately.

Manchester City are interested in a move for Musiala in 2025, and could be in a hurry if Kevin De Bruyne calls time on his career at the Etihad and moves to Saudi next summer. Hence, there’s a significant probability for the attacker to trigger a transfer battle next summer. However, on current showing, he’s unlikely to sign for Manchester United unless they end up turning into top challengers overnight.
