Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bring in Jose Mourinho as their next manager.

The 63-year-old is currently the manager of Benfica, but Real Madrid are keen to bring him back, and they have been warned against the appointment.

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper and legend Iker Casillas has urged the club not to appoint the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager.

The former Spanish international goalkeeper has revealed that he has no personal problem with the Portuguese manager, but he would prefer other coaches to manage Real Madrid. He added that it is his personal opinion, and he has nothing against the 63-year-old.

“I have no problem with Mourinho. He seems like a great professional to me,” Casillas wrote on X.

“I don’t want him at Real Madrid. I think other coaches would be better equipped to coach at the club of my life.

“Personal opinion, nothing more.”

Mourinho had a complicated relationship with Casillas during their time together at Real Madrid. He chose to drop the Spanish international as the first-choice goalkeeper of the club in his final season.

It remains to be seen what Real Madrid decides. It has been a disappointing season for them, and they are looking to bounce back strongly. Initially, they invested in Xabi Alonso, but the move did not work out. They decided to bring in Alvaro Arbeloa as a replacement. However, that move has not yielded the desired results either.

Real Madrid need the experience of Mourinho

They need to bring in someone with quality and experience to manage a top club. Mourinho could be ideal for them. He has helped them win major trophies in the past, and he knows the club well.

Whoever comes in will be under tremendous pressure to deliver instantly. The 63-year-old has the experience and the pedigree to perform under that kind of pressure. He has won several major trophies throughout his career, and it could prove to be a wise decision to move for him.

Mourinho has not managed at the elite level since leaving Manchester United, and he will be desperate to return to it. The opportunity to manage Real Madrid will be exciting for him. It remains to be seen whether all parties can finalise the move quickly.

Recent reports claim that Mourinho is already planning his transfers with Real Madrid for the upcoming summer window.
