Ian Wright sends message to Manchester United regarding Bruno Fernandes

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was far from impressed with Manchester United following what Bruno Fernandes revealed in his bombshell interview.

There’s a bit of a stir going on at Manchester United following some events that occurred in quick succession. Firstly, the fans are somewhat divided with Ruben Amorim’s inability to get consistent results from this team, and then the Kobbie Mainoo T-shirt incident.

The Bruno Fernandes bombshell interview has created a massive division with how some may even perceive the current management of the club. The Manchester United skipper has sparked exit rumours following what he revealed in that interview, as there has been divided opinion on the subject.

To slightly touch on the issue, Fernandes revealed the club wanted to sell him to Saudi Arabia last summer, but it was the skipper who chose not to leave. There are many reasons that came out around that time in the summer on why the Manchester United star made the decision to stay, including his need to keep playing at the highest level ahead of the World Cup next year.

However, Fernandes was critical of the club’s desire to possibly sell him, as he also revealed talks with Al-Hilal during that period. The whole scenario panned out following Manchester United’s Europa League final loss to Tottenham, which meant they would lose out on massive revenue owing to a lack of Champions League football this season.

Among the many opinions in the media, Arsenal legend Ian Wright blasted Manchester United for their conduct in the whole Fernandes situation. Wright’s comments on The Overlap via Team Talk state the pundit feels Manchester United were indecisive and that the club should have taken a different approach than they did.

Wright said, “When you look at Bruno’s quotes, it comes back to Man United being indecisive.”

“So, someone came in for Bruno Fernandes last summer. You shut that down.”

“He didn’t want to go. Bruno is basically saying the club went, ‘It’s up to you if you want to leave. ’

“That’s not what you want to hear when you’re the person who has basically held the club up by yourself.”

“You want the club to say, ‘You’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this’. But Manchester United didn’t do that.”

“They gave him the option and said, ‘If you want to go, you can go.’ What is that saying to him? I would take him tomorrow.”

Manchester United chiefs have since responded, as a report stated they blamed Fernandes for bringing in offers from Al-Hilal. A recent story stated, Manchester United were ready to entertain offers for Fernandes, and this might have some connection to the skipper’s explosive interview.

It remains to be seen what transpires with Fernandes’ future, although not many are expecting anything out of the ordinary ahead of the January window. The summer window next time out could open new possibilities for the Manchester United captain, as he might be ready to move on then.
