Harry Kane spoke about new Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, suggesting the Italian will bring success at the club by getting the best out of the players.

A few difficult weeks, coupled with terrible results on the pitch, resulted in Tottenham deciding on parting ways with Nuno Espirito Santo. The club subsequently announced the appointment of Antonio Conte amid much convincing required to lure the Italian to north London, especially after he had rejected them in the summer.

Conte now seems convinced by the project, having seen the quality of the players from a distance, and the Italian looks ready to build a team. Tottenham had shown flashes of their squad quality back in August. They sat at the top of the Premier League table earlier in the season only for their form to capitulate, which ensured they dropped ranks drastically.

Conte got his Spurs reign off to a winning start against Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday in an entertaining clash and is hopeful of winning his first Premier League game in charge against Everton at the weekend. Apart from getting points on board, the Italian also has a task to revitalise his players, particularly their talisman, Harry Kane.

At the back of a failed summer move to Manchester City, Kane’s season has gotten off to the worst possible start. While the England captain remains prolific in the Conference League, he has only a solitary goal to show in the Premier League. Many believe, under Conte, he will find his best form, and the Everton game will surely be a test of sorts.

The English striker, in the aftermath of Tottenham’s midweek result, opined on Conte’s appointment. Speaking after the game, Kane had words of praise for the new Spurs manager. Transfer Market Web posted some of the comments made by the striker.

Kane said, “I am a player that always believes in myself and always believes in my ability. I am 28 years old; I have still got a lot to learn and improve on. It’s not been the start I wanted, the team wanted, or the club wanted, so we all know that. We all have to take responsibility for it as players.”

“It is not something I am worried about, I will keep working, and I am really excited about working with this manager. It shows great ambition, to be honest. His resume speaks for itself. Everyone knows how highly thought of he is and what he has done as a manager in the game. You have to respect that. He will work as hard as he can to improve us as players.”

“Still, it is about us as players, taking it in, learning, doing more on the pitch, doing more in training, doing more away from training, whether it is recovery, making sure we give ourselves every opportunity to win. We have a manager and a club that believe in us. He definitely brings a lot of passion, a lot of determination, whether that’s on the training pitch or in meetings, in the dressing room.”

How Tottenham fare under the tutelage of Conte remains to be seen. However, the Spurs fans have good reason to be optimistic for the remainder of the 2021/22 season and beyond, as they look to get their campaign back on track.
