Barcelona managed to escape Coliseum Alfonso Perez with all three points, thanks to a late goal from Paulinho, who scored his first in a Barcelona shirt.
Ernesto Valverde has gotten off to a good start at Barcelona. Three wins out of three and a convincing 3-0 win over Juventus was to be followed by a trip to Getafe. The Madrid outfit did not make it easy for the Catalans as the first half ended 1-0.
However, Ernesto Valverde earned his money for the night as his substitutions worked perfectly. Denis Suarez and Paulinho netted the goals as the Catalans completed the comeback late into the match. Despite the struggle, the win sees Valverde continue his perfect start at the club.
Fans were extremely pleased with Paulinho, whose solo effort clinched the three points on the day.
No banter. Paulinho goal is absolutely unreal. The way he uses his body to get rid of the defender and create space to shoot is worldclass

Expensive, not particularly young and not Marco Verratti, but Paulinho showed today why Barça bought him… https://t.co/pLkg4hBo1C #FCBlive pic.twitter.com/MIE0w2h944

Fans were quick to praise Valverde too, whose substitutions changed the course of the match.
Valverde subbed on Denis Suarez and Paulinho with very clear instructions. Both happened to score too. This is my coach

Valverde shows he’s the first Barcelona coach since Tito that knows how to properly make substitutions. Won the match.

Anyone going to credit Valverde for turning the game with two great substitutions?
— Darryl (@LordMoloch) September 16, 2017
Valverde changes worked today, with both Denis and Paulinho scoring. Not the best performance, but a vital result and four out of four wins.
— Ben Hayward (@bghayward) September 16, 2017
Shoot-out Valverde for correcting his mistakes as the game progressed. Both his substitutions made the differences. Immensely satisfying.
— Sameer (@Sameer_R13) September 16, 2017
Credit to Valverde, both his subs Paulinho and Denis came on and made the difference, turned around the score and secured a vital away win

2 substitutes responsible for Barca’s 2 goals today. Valverde seems to be making the RIGHT calls at Barca since that shambolic Super copa

Both subs scored. That’s a W for Valverde, after an L of a first half ?
— Parsva (@Parsva10) September 16, 2017
Had we had lucho then he would have subbed on Mathieu and we would have conceded anothe goal. Valverde’s subs saved the game. #valverdismo
