Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has been linked with a move away from the West Midlands outfit in recent months.
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers, and he could be on his way out of the West Midlands club in the summer transfer window.
Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has warned that the Englishman, who cost £15 million when he arrived from Middlesbrough could move on in the summer if the West Midlands outfit miss out on Champions League qualification. They will need to finish in the top four to attract top players and keep their best players at the club.
It will be interesting to see if they can finish in the top four. They had a very impressive first half of the campaign, but they have regressed in recent weeks. They will need to raise their performance levels in order to finish the season strongly and secure their place in the Champions League next season.
Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “[I agree] 100%, and you know Morgan Rogers is going to have a fantastic World Cup as well.
“If Aston Villa somehow don’t get Champions League football, I think the manager goes, Morgan Rodgers is sold and Aston Villa could end up a mid-table club, like Fulham.
“I really do think it’s that important. If they do get Champions League football and the manager stays, the next four or five years will look so good for Aston Villa.
“That’s how important it is.”
Can Aston Villa convince Rogers to stay?
Rogers is one of the Premier League’s best young talents, and it is no surprise that clubs like Chelsea want to secure his signature. He has all the tools to develop into a top-class player. He could be an asset for most teens in the country. He will want to compete at the highest level and regularly fight for trophies.
It would not be a surprise if he decides to move on in the summer. Aston Villa must convince him that he will be able to fulfil his ambitions with them if they want to keep him at the club. Securing a top-four finish could prove to be integral for them.
