Fulham 1-2 Liverpool: Reds go top of the Premier League courtesy of a Milner penalty [Tweets]

A late James Milner penalty secured all three points for Liverpool against Fulham, as they went on top of the Premier League table.

Sadio Mane’s first-half strike, which was his ninth goal in as many games gave Liverpool hope in a game where they struggled to break down a struggling Fulham side. The home team, through Ryan Babel, capitalized on a collective error from James Milner, Virgil van Dijk, and Alisson to equalise in the second-half.

Soon after though, Sergio Rico fouled Mane in the box handing the Reds a lifeline. And James Milner made no mistake from the resulting penalty. Liverpool, then threatened, like they did the entire game, although it finished 1-2 to the visitors, as Liverpool now go two points ahead of Manchester City on the table, who also have a game in hand.

Twitter had a field day with this game, as first, they were in awe of Sadio Mane’s current goalscoring form, although went berserk against Van Dijk & Co. once the equalizer was scored. Finally, they found some positive words for their hero, James Milner for his cool finish from the spot. Let’s take a look at some of those tweets from this game.

Let’s begin with Sadio Mane and his fantastic goalscoring form, The Senegalese forward has now scored 20 goals in all competitions, including 17 in the league.

Virgil van Dijk and Alisson then combined to gift Fulham a precious equaliser, and Twitter was not kind on Liverpool’s star duo.

Then came Ryan Babel, who incidentally claimed in the build-up to the game that he knows how to exploit Van Dijk, something he did.

And finally a tribute to the great James Milner, whose penalty ensured the Reds took all three points and went above Manchester City.
