Kevin Campbell feels Dele Alli needs a new challenge while backing Everton to make a move for the Tottenham star in the January window.
Dele Alli’s career has taken to a downward curve in recent seasons, as the player has failed to replicate his brilliant form during Mauricio Pochettino’s term. However, amid a coronavirus crisis at Tottenham, Antonio Conte selected the attacking midfielder for their recent clash with Liverpool, where he did perform reasonably well.
Alli is expected to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window despite that positive display. The north Londoners are exploring whether to send the player on loan or sell him permanently. Newcastle United are prepared to make an offer over a temporary move until the end of the season.
West Ham United have also been widely tipped to make the move to offer David Moyes a new option in his attacking unit. Some suggest Alli could be Jesse Lingard-esque signing for the Hammers, pointing towards the Manchester United star’s impact at the London Stadium last season.
However, Alli will have plenty of suitors and offers on the table if he decides to leave Tottenham in January. There is also the option of joining Everton, who are reportedly keen on signing the midfielder. The Tottenham man could be staring at multiple ideas, making for a tricky decision over his next destination.
Kevin Campbell, writing exclusively for Merseyside outlet Goodison News, has suggested that Alli could be a useful signing for Everton in the upcoming transfer window.
Campbell said, “He needs a new start, someone who can do what he does from midfield – someone else who can score goals. The Mourinho regime really hurt him; he’s been an England international, a World Cup player, he’s done well and is still young enough to have a really good rest of his career. He needs a jumpstart, he needs a rejuvenation and why not Everton?”
After his recent display against Liverpool, there have been suggestions Conte might look to keep Alli for the foreseeable future. However, due to the midfielder’s inconsistencies, Tottenham might take their chances and show Alli the door, and it remains to be seen if they prefer a permanent transfer.
