Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal has been linked with a move away from the North London club this summer.
Emerson Royal is a target for Serie A giants AC Milan heading into the summer transfer window, and he has now opened up on the interest from the European heavyweights.
As per quotes relayed by Fabrizio Romano, Emerson has revealed that Milan have already made an enquiry for him and that he is proud of their interest. He added that they are an important club and he is delighted with their interest in him.
“Yes, I know Milan asked Spurs about me. I’m proud of that, Milan is an important club. Let’s see what happens with Milan, I’m just happy to know that they are showing interest in me”.
The Brazilian defender has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham, and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly. He cannot afford to sit on the bench at this stage of his career. He is not the first choice right back at Tottenham and it would make sense for all parties to go their separate ways.
Emerson Royal would be a useful addition
The Spurs defender will look to compete at the highest level, and AC Milan could provide him with that opportunity. He could be a useful acquisition for the Serie A giants. He is versatile enough to play on both flanks and will add defensive cover to the side. The 25-year-old has shown his quality in La Liga and in the Premier League. There is no doubt that he is good enough for Serie A as well.
AC Milan will probably hope to sign him for a knockdown price this summer, and it remains to be seen whether they can secure an agreement with Tottenham. The North London club will look to improve their squad this summer. They will want to secure Champions League qualification next season and fight for trophies. Selling their fringe players will help them bring in funds to improve their starting lineup.
