Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has now opened up on the summer transfer window and the futures of Kieran Trippier and Jamal Lowe.
Eddie Howe has revealed that the Magpies could still sell players even though the English window has closed. The transfer window in other countries is still open, and the Newcastle United manager has claimed that players, including Jamal Lowe, could still depart the club this month.
Kieran Trippier has been linked with a move away from the club, and Turkish outfits are keeping tabs on his situation. The player has recently reportedly agreed to personal terms with Euypspor, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
The England international is no longer the first-choice right-back at the club, and Newcastle United are planning for the future. The 33-year-old needs to leave the club to play regularly this season.
The veteran full-back could be available for a reasonable price, and a move to Turkey could be an interesting opportunity for him at this stage of his career. The lower intensity of Turkish football will suit him as well. However, Eddie Howe also revealed that he wants to keep the England international defender at Newcastle United.
Jamal Lewis close to summer exit?
Another player who has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United is Jamal Lewis. He is behind Lewis Hall in the pecking order, and he will need to move on in order to play regularly. The 26-year-old will be determined to get his career back on track, and he has been linked with a move to Sao Paulo.
“Absolutely, I want Kieran here,” said the Magpies boss on talkSPORT. “That hasn’t changed, and that won’t change. I woke up to the stories via a few messages, as you do, but that was the first I’d heard of it. Maybe the players who have been linked with a move, like Jamal Lewis, could possibly leave. But we certainly hope that no one else does.”
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle United can get rid of their fringe players before the foreign transfer windows slam shut. The Magpies were been able to spend heavily because of the PSR regulations, and they will look to balance the books this summer.
