Dean Saunders heaps praise on Mohamed Salah

Dean Saunders has claimed that Mohamed Salah is the best player in the world right now, with even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo not as good.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Dean Saunders has reserved special praise for Mohamed Salah and his form in the early stages of the season. The former Liverpool striker has claimed that the Egyptian forward is currently the best player in the world, with even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo not playing at his level.

Mohamed Salah has blossomed into one of the best players in the world since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017. The Reds’ top scorer in each of the seasons he has been at Anfield so far, the 29-year-old has been a prolific customer in front of goal over the last four years, adding multiple layers to his game.

Salah has been in inspiring form early in the 2021/22 season, scoring eight goals in as many games so far. Most recently, the Egyptian forward scored two goals in Liverpool’s 5-1 thrashing of FC Porto in a UEFA Champions League tie.

Now, Dean Saunders has heaped praise on Salah in the wake of his brilliant form early in the 2021/22 season. Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Liverpool striker, who has recently been linked with Barcelona, has claimed that the Liverpool talisman is the best player in the world right now, outperforming even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Right now, as we speak, who’s better than him? Eight goals in eight games from right-wing, he’s not playing down the middle. He just looks unstoppable. There’s Messi and Ronaldo, who are on their own, but right now they’re not as good as Salah.”

When asked `whether he would take Salah or Ronaldo, Saunders answered, “Right now, Salah. It’s easy to say Ronaldo, but right now Salah looks like he’s going to score every week.”

Saunders’s comments do make some sense as Salah has been in more inspired touch as compared to Messi and Ronaldo, with the Argentine wizard only now scoring his first goal for Paris Saint-Germain. Having said all that, Salah’s form will be crucial this season for Liverpool as they look to compete on all four fronts and get back to winning a major honour this term.
