It was a good day at the office for Liverpool as they knocked out Tottenham Hotspur from the EFL Cup with 2 goals coming from a returning Daniel Sturridge.
Daniel Sturridge was handed a rare start and the Englishman seized the opportunity with both hands. After a difficult spell on the sidelines, Jurgen Klopp ultimately granted him a start along with a largely second string Liverpool side and it only took 8 minutes for him to justify his selection. He would later go on to double his side’s lead in the 64th minute.
We’re surely going to see a lot off Sturridge news from this account for the next week,
Daniel Sturridge worst striker in the prem, if he scores I’ll dedicate my account to that fraud for a week

Klopp: “That’s Sturridge’s strength, he’s a finisher and a really good striker. I never doubted him even when he didn’t score.” #lfc

Sturridge: “I am grateful to God helping me get through the things I’ve had to go through and I’m happy tonight.” #lfc

I think tonight just highlights certain players suit certain systems. Sturridge, with a strike partner in Origi, looked much better.

Danny Sturridge’s right foot… pic.twitter.com/imRPc3qvgA
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) October 25, 2016
Just imagine how good Danny Sturridge would be if his right foot wasn’t simply a collection of cells and membrane which he cannot control.
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) October 25, 2016
It’s alright folks, Danny Sturridge has confirmed his goal was simply a blip, and has returned to non-form with that fluffed shot.

Klopp has amazing attention to detail.A back up for every position including his own. #LFC #LIVTOT pic.twitter.com/WA4Xi2Almd

Oh man, I wish I had someone in my life that hugged me the way Jürgen Klopp hugs his players. #LIVTOT

This game also saw another rare sight, Danny Ings getting some much needed game time.
Our back up strikers are Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi & Danny Ings. Wasn’t that long ago our 2nd choice was David Ngog.
— Pat (@patfc91) October 25, 2016
Klopp: “Divock Origi didn’t score but played well. Danny Ings didn’t score but played well. Daniel is really important, could have had 3/4.”
— Anfield HQ (@AnfieldHQ) October 25, 2016
So f*cking rude of Vorm to save that shot and deny Danny Ings a goal on his return. Spoilsport.
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) October 25, 2016
Good to see Danny Ings back.
— Paddy Power (@paddypower) October 25, 2016
Great reception for Ings who replaces Origi. And an ovation for Alexander-Arnold who is replaced by Clyne #LFC

Victor Janssen hasn’t had the best record after arriving at Tottenham in the summer. He did however, give Spurs some hope with a well taken penalty.
2 – Both of Vincent Janssen’s goals for Spurs have been penalties in the League Cup. Lifeline.
— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) October 25, 2016
#thfc “fans” labeling Janssen as another Soldado really arent helping at all..22 year old striker in new league, give him a break
— Marc Ashed (@MAshed18) October 25, 2016
Janssen can’t win can he. Slated if he misses gets called Soldado when he scores #SpursSpastics

Youngster Divock Origi had an immense game for the Reds on the night. Despite not scoring, he was a constant threat, running the Spurs’ defence ragged with his pace and trickery.
Jurgen Klopp (while he was talking about Origi): “Belgium are a lucky country.” Are we? #LFC ?? @ElevenBE_nl

Liverpool signed Firmino, Mane, Milner, Matip, Coutinho, Origi and Karius for less than United signed Pogba for.
What a time to be alive.

It’s actually insane that our back up strikers are Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Ings. All 3 of which would start for most PL clubs.
