Branislav Jasurek has confirmed that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have established contact to sign David Hancko.
In an interview with Czech outlet TN, Branislav Jasurek confirmed contact from high-profile clubs for his client, David Hancko. Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing the Slovakian defender and have contacted his representatives over a possible move.
Jasurek said, “As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs, but also with others who are looking into David’s situation. I estimate that 80-90% David will stay in Rotterdam, because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that David Hancko will be sold even in the summer and maybe better than now.”
David Hancko spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the MSK Zilina youth division. His next stint came with Fiorentina, but he could not shine in Serie A. The Slovak finally rose to prominence after joining Sparta Prague in July 2021 but has come leaps and bounds during his stint with Feyenoord.
The 26-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Feyenoord and played a leading role as they won the Eredivisie title last season. He remains ever-present in the defensive unit and has turned out 25 times thus far this term, chipping in with one goal and two assists. Meanwhile, Hancko’s progress has not gone unnoticed.
Newcastle United considered signing David Hancko in the summer transfer window. But the Slovakian international did not want to leave Feyenoord after just one season, with the Dutch champions keeping hold of him. That has been a sensible decision, with the player’s progress capturing the attention of Liverpool.
The Reds are in the market for a centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window. Joel Matip is on the wrong side of 30 and in the final months of his contract. Meanwhile, Joe Gomez is not dependable due to his sketchy fitness record. So, it behoves Liverpool to sign a centre-back, Ko Itakura emerging as a top target.
But David Hancko is also a viable target for Liverpool. However, with Paris Saint-Germain also in the hunt, the Reds need to be wary. It will be interesting to see if the 26-year-old league-winning defender seals a summer move to Anfield.
