Manchester United came back from being a goal down to defeat AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Manchester United picked up just their third win in nine games across all competitions, when they defeated Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth 2-1 this weekend.
Jose Mourinho’s were off to a timid start and were duly punished just eleven minutes into the game, as Callum Wilson handed the Cherries an early lead, poking home from close range. The home team continued to boss the game for a good part of the first period, but Manchester United clawed their way back into the game with Anthony Martial equalizing on the half-hour mark.
The Red Devils started the second half on a much better note and caused plenty of problems, but some poor finishing let them down in key moments. And just when it felt like the match was petering out towards a draw, substitute Marcus Rashford slotted home after a scramble in the box to snatch all three points.
The 21-year-old striker, having come on for Juan Mata very early in the second period, wasted a golden opportunity to put United in front with a shocking miss. The United fans did not take the miss well, while supporters of other clubs did not miss the chance to poke fun at the Englishman.

However, the late winner meant all was forgotten as fans cherished the academy graduate’s second goal of the 2018-19 season.

While Manchester United came out with a much-needed victory, it was anything but a convincing performance from the Red Devils, with their defence all over the places, especially in the first half. That was not lost on the club’s supporters, with Chris Smalling in particular, drawing a lot of criticism.

that rashford goal felt inevitable the way we were playing. if our 1st half’s could step up a bit, we’re looking half decent again. smalling & lindelof need to go though, just not good enough
