Romelu Lukaku and Thomas Meunier scored a hattrick each as Belgium ran riot against minnows Gibraltar to set up a 9-0 win.
Belgium were heavy favourites going into the game against Gibraltar. And the Red Devils ran riot on Thursday, putting in 9 past Gibraltar. Romelu Lukaku scored a hattrick – Thomas Meunier as well – while the Chelsea fans were treated to Eden Hazard’s long-awaited return from injury.
Manchester United fans were out in full force as they hailed Lukaku for his hattrick.
Don’t let #DeadlineDay distract you from the fact that Romelu Lukaku is only 5 goals off being Belgium’s all time top scorer at 24. #mufc pic.twitter.com/Y0uPnYhaMy

Romelu Lukaku needs 5 goals to become Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer.

Lukaku is only 5 goals away from being Belgium’s all time leading goal scorer. So much for “he doesn’t perform for Belgium” ? pic.twitter.com/IzGtDi2Wjn

Lukaku scoring from crosses for Belgium but United don’t have sensible fullbacks who can cross successfully.

Eden Hazard’s return, as well, was greeted well by fans on social media as the player started and scored.

Axel Witsel though, managed to get himself sent off after just 40 minutes of game time on the board.
Belgium beat Gibraltar 9 nil last night which makes me think Alex Witsel’s straight Red must be one of most pointless Red cards ever.
