“In general, my situation is very clear,” Kimmich told the media after Bayern’s 8-1 win over Mainz. “I still have over a year left on my contract. Nobody has spoken to me yet. That’s why I’m very relaxed. Let’s see what happens. For me, the most important thing is that I perform well, that I reach my maximum performance, and I can’t influence the rest.”
The German midfielder has been a key performer for Bayern Munich over the years, and he is versatile enough to operate in a variety of roles. He can slot into the right-back position or defensive midfield slot, and he could be a key asset for the club in the coming seasons as well. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester United are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.
Liverpool need a quality defensive midfielder to support Wataru Endo, and the German international would be a solid acquisition. Kimmich is at the peak of his powers right now, and he could make a big difference in the Liverpool midfield. His versatility would mean that he can be a cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold as well.
