Joshua Kimmich has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, with Liverpool and Manchester United interested.
As quoted by 90min Joshua Kimmich has revealed that Bayern Munich are yet to open talks with him regarding his future. Several high-profile clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, are interested in signing him.
“In general, my situation is very clear,” Kimmich told the media after Bayern’s 8-1 win over Mainz. “I still have over a year left on my contract. Nobody has spoken to me yet. That’s why I’m very relaxed. Let’s see what happens. For me, the most important thing is that I perform well, that I reach my maximum performance, and I can’t influence the rest.”
The German midfielder has been a key performer for Bayern Munich over the years, and he is versatile enough to operate in a variety of roles. He can slot into the right-back position or defensive midfield slot, and he could be a key asset for the club in the coming seasons as well. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Manchester United are thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.
Liverpool need a quality defensive midfielder to support Wataru Endo, and the German international would be a solid acquisition. Kimmich is at the peak of his powers right now, and he could make a big difference in the Liverpool midfield. His versatility would mean that he can be a cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold as well.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are thought to be keen as well. The Red Devils signed Sofyan Amrabat on loan last summer, and the Moroccan international has been quite underwhelming. He has not been able to adapt to the Premier League, and Manchester United are unlikely to sign in permanently. They need to replace him adequately, and Kimmich would be a quality acquisition.
Kimmich could be tempted to move to England
The 28-year-old has proven himself in the Bundesliga over the years, and he might feel that this is the right time for him to take the next step and pursue a different challenge. A move to Liverpool or Manchester United could be an exciting opportunity for him.
Liverpool are more likely to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the next season. So, it is fair to assume that they could have an edge over their bitter rivals when it comes to signing the German midfielder.
Kimmich is a top class player who will want to join a club capable of competing at the highest level and winning major trophies. Manchester United are going through a rebuild, and they might not be an attractive prospect for him.
