Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has dismissed the speculations linking Leroy Sane with a move to Manchester United.
Speaking to Sky90 (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has claimed that there is nothing to the rumours linking star winger Leroy Sane to Manchester United this summer.
Surprise reports emerged last week claiming that Manchester United had lodged an enquiry about the availability of Sane, despite his past allegiances with Manchester City. The 26-year-old had a successful stint at the Etihad Stadium before he returned to Germany in 2020 when he signed for Bayern Munich.
However, Sane has not had smooth sailing at the Allianz Arena, with his situation seemingly getting a bit more tricky following the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool this summer. It has sparked some concerns over his future in Bavaria, with Manchester United emerging as one of the German international’s winger admirers.
But, director Hasan Salihamidzic has now commented on the reports, claiming that there is nothing to those claims while adding that Sane remains an important player for the reigning champions of Germany. “There’s no truth to that. He’s an important player for us. There’s nothing to say about that at all,” Salihamidzic said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

A move for Sane was always going to be unlikely, considering that he played for Manchester United’s cross-town rivals Manchester City. The player would not have been keen on the move, while the Red Devils’ supporters might not have liked the idea of the club signing a former rival star. However, they are likely to sign a new wide forward before the transfer window closes.
Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven has emerged as a target for the 20-time English champions, while they are also looking at Antony of AFC Ajax as a potential recruit to bolster their frontline, which looked toothless in their first Premier League game of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion this past Sunday.
A new centre-forward should also be a priority for Manchester United as question marks continue to linger over the future of Cristiano Ronaldo, while Anthony Martial is sidelined with injury.
