Real Madrid have a comfortable cushion heading into the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup after a straightforward 3-1 win over Barcelona on Sunday.
The match kicked into life in the second half as Gerard Pique put the ball into the back of his own net from Marcelo’s cross, just minutes after play resumed following the break. With just a quarter of an hour left to play though, Lionel Messi levelled things up from the spot.
But, Barcelona weren’t in the match for long as Cristiano Ronaldo scored a spectacular goal to restore Real Madrid’s lead before being sent off just two minutes later. But his absence is unlikely to be felt dearly in the second leg as Marcos Asensio’s injury time goal gives Los Blancos a two-goal cushion.
The Portuguese superstar, though, was a major talking point among fans in the aftermath of the match for his eventful cameo. Here are the best tweets:

Barca wouldnt be scrambling for Neymar replacement if they had paid the €3.5m to sign Asensio in summer 2014. Used money for Douglas instead
