Juventus pulled off a defensive masterclass to oust Barcelona from the UEFA Champions League, on a night that many were hoping would turn into another miraculous comeback for the Catalans – given the massive feat they pulled off against Paris Saint-Germain.
This was not the case, however, as Massimiliano Allegri’s side resisted wave after wave of Barcelona’s attacks to pull off a near-perfect away performance – the only thing missing was a goal – and progress to the next round.
Barcelona put in a monumental effort but on a day that Messi, Suarez and Neymar were uncharacteristically wasteful with their chances and their possession, Juventus emerged deserved victors.
Ronaldo’s fans were out in force after Lionel Messi was unable to lead his team to a victory like the Madrid captain did the previous night against Bayern Munich.
Ironic how ronaldo was mocked for putting away almost the same kind of tap ins that messi missed today. Life comes in circles.

Messi couldn’t score a single goal against juve over 180 mins but everyone will stay quiet. Scenes if it were Ronaldo.

Barca vs Madrid: Ronaldo would be watching Messi & sipping coffee thinking, “I can’t believe the world once thought this guy played better”.
— Jhenny (@Dr_Jhenny) April 20, 2017
Messi couldn’t score an open play goal when they scored 6 v Psg while Ronaldo scored 5 by himself against Bayern and Ronaldo is finished ???

Messi could not do what Ronaldo did yesterday. Now we know who is the best in the world?? Good night

Ronaldo is elite and so is Messi. However don’t bend the achievements to fit your agenda. Just keep it simple.

Someone give Messi a DVD of Ronaldo’s performance yesterday so he can learn how to deliver when it matters
— Aadam (@aadambirmingham) April 19, 2017
Messi bottling all the chances in a big game where it matters, Ronaldo popping a hattrick against Neuer to see his team through.

Arsenal fans – as well as fans of other clubs – on Twitter were hugely impressed by the managerial skills of Massimiliano Allegri, who has been linked with the Arsenal job for a few months now.
Who’s still doubting the quality of Allegri? Absolute master class over both legs, I would take him over Wenger all day long!
— Mr DT © (@MrDtAFC) April 19, 2017
Arsenal fans should be screaming for Allegri or Simeone – not falling for yet more of Wenger’s BS & excuses. Speak up you lemmings! #afc
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) April 19, 2017
Allegri made barca look like crystal palace while Wenger made palace look like barca ……. ?#wengerknows
— Gooner Adam (@AdzCampbell91) April 19, 2017
Allegri kept a clean sheet against the best attack in the world over 2 legs. Wenger conceded 10 goals over two legs to Bayern.
— #AllegriKnowsBest (@arseneoutt) April 19, 2017
To #Arsenal fans: Of course #Allegri will say Yes. It’s every manager’s dream to leave Chiellini and Bonnuci for Koscielny and Mustafi.

Two clean sheets vs MSN. Allegri is the best coach in the world. Confirmed.

They say be careful what you wish for well I wish for Allegri

Juve 2 finals in 4 years with Allegri, 2 group stage exits with Conte. Make of that what you will.

Simply can’t praise Allegri enough. Improvement every single season, progression in every area. He’s so damn smart
— Juvefc.com (@juvefcdotcom) April 19, 2017
Managing to go 180 minutes without conceding at all against Barcelona is simply a masterclass. Time to recognize Allegri’s as a great coach.
— Jonas Giæver (@CheGiaevara) April 19, 2017
Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci were also on the receiving end of a lot of praise, after their brilliant performance kept one of the best attacks in the world at bay.
Chiellini and Bonucci should start up a bank when they retire. Safest place in the world to put your money
— Soccer Fan Base (@Soccerfanbase) April 19, 2017
World-class performance from Juventus. They have managed this game so professionally. Chiellini and Bonucci unbelievably diligent.
— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) April 19, 2017
Had defenders get as much recognition as strikers, players like Bonucci and Chiellini would win the Ballon d’ Or multiple times.
— Neil (@NeilG07) April 19, 2017
Trump wants to build a wall across the southern US border for €12billion?
He could just sign Chiellini and Bonucci for a fraction of that.
— Andreas Vou (@AndreasVou89) April 19, 2017
2/3 To reduce this Barcelona to long shots & hopeful balls into the box is just incredible. Bonucci & Chiellini were immense
— Adam Digby (@Adz77) April 19, 2017
