Arsenal were unable to enter the top four of the Premier League despite a win in their last game, condemning them to Europa League football.
Arsenal hosted Everton in a must-win game and while the Gunners romped to a 3-1 win, thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez, Hector Bellerin and Aaron Ramsey, with Romelu Lukaku converting from the penalty spot as a consolation for Everton.
And as the Gunners failed to achieve a top-four finish, the fans came out in full force, criticising Arsene Wenger for the failure.
Wenger has been Arsenal’s greatest ever manager. But I think it’s time for change. At least today he was honest to admit his share of blame.

Any abuse Wenger has faced in the form of banners etc is fully deserved, you’re the manager, you face upto the fans you coward!

Arsenal fans: “We want change.” ?
Arsene Wenger: “Done” ? pic.twitter.com/2pulZqEqot

Arsenal fans crying about the non-penalty in the Liverpool match. Let’s focus on the real issue: Arsene Wenger is still our manager.

We’ve gone from title winners, to being happy with 4th place, to now sliding into the Europa. All under Wenger. A club in free fall

No top 4
Lose the cup final
Wenger extends
Kroenke stays
Drawn out transfers
Sanchez leaves
Unprepared start to seasonAll a possibility

Arsenal fans sided with Alexis Sanchez for wanting to leave and feared that, in the wake of their club condemned to Europa League football, the Chilean is all set to leave.
Thank you for everything @Alexis_Sanchez!

Ozil about to tweet “Ya Europa Ya” whilst Alexis packing his bags outta Emirates.
The difference.

Alexis Sanchez’s last game at the Emirates. I love you brother. Thanks for the memories. Winner.

Fans at the stadium: Enjoy Alexis today, it’s likely he won’t be playing there next season (for AFC, at least).

There were some positives, though, as Danny Welbeck pitched in with 2 assists on the day and overall showed glimpses of just how good he can be, if he manages to remain injury-free.
Welbeck’s assist to Sanchez was tidy but I much prefer the sheer ingenuity of his first one for Bellerin
— Sam Wallace (@SamWallaceTel) May 21, 2017
However, the English international’s first assist was more a result of missing an open goal and chance – which saw the striker being trolled.

If it came down to a Welbeck winner to get top 4 or a Giroud hat trick and stay 5th I’d take the latter option.

Worst assist of the decade goes to Danny Welbeck missing an open goal but ends up assisting Bellerin pic.twitter.com/Ym0rMMkoxt

Danny welbeck is terrible. So so so bad.
— Broghan Smith (@broghan_smith) May 21, 2017
Can we please make sure we don’t let Danny Welbeck get away with that miss? It’s up there with the worst of all time. #MOTD
