Arsenal looked to be on their way to the top spot in their group in the UEFA Champions League as they were 2-1 up against Paris Saint-Germain, thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and a Verratti own goal after the French giants took the lead through Edinson Cavani.
Watch highlights of the 2-2 draw here.
But, an own-goal by Alex Iwobi squandered the opportunity to go top of the group and the draw means that, barring a miraculous result in the PSG vs Ludogorets match, Arsenal are resigned to finishing second in the group. And Twitter was pretty vocal about the prospect of finishing second.

I’m not hugely fussed about where we finish in the group – there are some tough draws either way. Let’s see who we draw and on Arsenal go.

Arsenal getting more stick for coming second in our group than Tottenham are for not qualifying at all. Says it all really.

Defining Arsenal as failure for not topping group “but” it’s okay for City to finish 2nd. pic.twitter.com/lghpLuZSbS

PSG are a very very good side. Therefore so are Arsenal. Suck it up, Gooners.

Twitter was full of praise for Olivier Giroud but the hot talking point was Iwobi’s own-goal and the fans were divided, with some defending the youngster while others giving him slack.
Good to see the lads get behind iwobi
for his mistake .

So unlucky from Iwobi, thought he’d looked our most dangerous player all night & his run opened up the space for our 2nd. ???

Iwobi’s confidence levels were already pretty low lately, needs to stay off Snapchat and get back to basics.
Form is temporary.

Iwobi is such a bottler, reason behind being behind in the league and 2nd in UCL group. Bench the Nigerian Pennant.

PSG away Iwobi missed a sitter to win it. Spurs at home Iwobi missed a sitter to win it. PSG at home Iwobi ducked and ran away.

Iwobi poor again tonight.
— Memz (@AFCMemz) November 23, 2016
Iwobi can’t score for us all season so decided to score against us.
— Osman (@OsmanZtheGooner) November 23, 2016
Alex Iwobi is very young so I’ll be fair to him, but I really don’t see what he brings to this team.
— TikiTakaConnor (@TikiTakaConnor) November 23, 2016
Some questioned Wenger’s selection while there were also tweets about the probable knockout opponents.
Weird team selection tonight. Neither Iwobi nor Alexis work with Giroud. We know this. Ramsey + Coquelin don’t work together. We know this.
— Tim Stillman (@Stillberto) November 23, 2016
Hard to know what Xhaka is doing (or not doing) in training to make Wenger so reluctant to play him
— Matt Spiro (@mattspiro) November 23, 2016
Wenger: Play Xhaka, that’s why we bought him for £35m
Inner Wenger: Coquelin is French, free and won’t shoot from 35 yards pic.twitter.com/z82bs40wWN

Wenger’s team selections in the last few games have been pretty bemusing, I have to say. They don’t even work on paper.

Alternatively, one can even blame it on Trump.
I’m just saying, Arsenal played a lot better before Trump won the election.
