Manchester United’s unbeaten streak under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer came to an end on Sunday, as Arsenal beat them 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Manchester United’s run of nine consecutive victories away from home came to a crashing halt on Sunday, as Arsenal capitalised on their defensive lapses to beat them 2-0.
The Gunners started the game strongly and were up and running in the 12th minute as David de Gea failed to react to a swerving effort from Granit Xhaka, to make it 1-0 in the favour of the hosts. Manchester United had several chances to get back into the game, but lacked the clinical edge in the final third.
Arsenal then doubled their lead in the 69th minute, when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dispatched a penalty after Fred had fouled Alexandre Lacazette with a clumsy challenge. Manchester United struggled to spark a comeback as the North London outfit held on to an important victory.
The result meant Manchester United dropped down to the fifth spot in the Premier League standings, with Arsenal moving into the fourth place, two points above Solskjaer’s side. And here’s how the Red Devils’ supporters reacted to a disappointing result on Sunday.
Disgusting. @ManUtd

Manchester United have no given right to win every game. Solskjaer will lose games as manager. Players will have an off day.
That’s football. It happens.

Don’t think there’s any need for overreaction. Manchester United had chances to score and punish Arsenal. Simply didn’t take them. One of those days. Recoup and go again next week.

Some fans were critical of goalkeeper David de Gea, who remained rooted for Xhaka’s effort from distance while he left a lot to be desired with his kicking as well.
Blame the wind, De Gea. That’s what everyone else does.

I don’t think I’ve ever said this but David de Gea has been really poor so far today, he has been quite sloppy on goal kicks and that goal was a mistake from him. Still so much time left, time to wake up.

That’s rubbish from De Gea to get beat from there

Gary Nev spent 10 mins deconstructing De Gea, talking contracts, talking body language, talking focus behind the scenes. It’s terrible punditry. He made a footing error and thats all. It’s a mistake. The swerve did him. Dont try and make it something it isnt. #MUFC

Fred also found himself facing the ire of the supporters, mere days after putting in his best display for Manchester United against PSG. The Brazilian gave away the penalty that put paid to the Red Devils’ hopes of mounting another comeback.
I can’t get behind Fred on this one sorry. He gave the ball away a lot and in dangerous areas. Very frustrating display

Fred has been very good and very bad at the same time. How does he do it?
— Dotun (@dotun_ade) March 10, 2019
Shocking 2 mins from Fred, loses it when he could’ve played us in for an equaliser and then gives away a penalty…

In the final third, Fred becomes Flinstone-like with clubs as feet.

Fred isn’t meant for united ?

Mate Fred was terrible today…
