Arsenal earned three crucial points as Robert Huth’s own goal propelled them to a 1-0 victory over Leicester City.
Although there were high expectations from this fixture, the match took a rather drab turn as both teams looked extra-cautious about any sort of attack. The Emirates stadium was unusually empty as well, and this could potentially be a warning sign for Arsenal.
However, for the few who showed up and the ones who saw the entire game on TV, were treated to a few moments of sheer bizarre-ness as Alexis Sanchez pulled a Sergio Busquets (remember the infamous video of him covering his face with his hands and peeking out).
Despite the own goal, Huth was one of Leicester’s best players last night. Also, this marked Jamie Vardy’s first visit to the Emirates after rejecting a summer move to Arsenal.
At the end of the day, a win is a win after all, and this was another example of how Wenger has started playing around with his formations.
When it comes to the best tweets of the night, Alexis Sanchez’s failed deception comes out on top. Here’s how Twitter reacted:
Can't believe I've seen Arsenal fans and Alexis Sanchez defend that hilarious dive.

To make matters worse, Sanchez later tweeted a picture of him with a cut on his lip which he allegedly got because of the throw in. That just added more fuel to the fire, as Twitter trolled him endlessly and went on a rampage.
Feliz por la victoria pero termine con el labio hinchado ??happy for the victory but ended up with a swollen lip ????⚽️ pic.twitter.com/0y301Ztnp9

Alexis Sanchez would settle in well at Chelsea with Diego Costa pic.twitter.com/v21RFRa9Ut

People are genuinely bothered by Alexis Sanchez tweeting a photo of a cut to his lip. Staggering.

Meanwhile, Robert Huth’s own goal will give Arsenal’s top-four chances a massive boost. However, this was not the first time that Huth gifted an own goal to the opponent. A similar situation occurred back in December 2016 when Leicester City played Sunderland.

Giroud in the box bullying Robert Huth into an own goal. He needs to play against every team that defends deep.

On replay, looks like an own goal off Robert Huth.

We bathe in Robert Huth's tears tonight.
— Ben Leeder (@BenLeeder) April 26, 2017
While Huth was trolled mercilessly, Arsenal fans were in seemingly high spirits.

As luck would have it a win on Sunday mathematically confirms finishing above Arsenal. Hoping for a sea of "Wenger In" banners.

I *think* that is a side strong enough to beat Leicester City. After extra-time on Sunday and with the NLD on Sunday, changes were needed.

I just woke from bed with joy and very relieved, knowing Arsenal won their match against Leicester City…COYG

Nothing better than seeing Kasper Schmeichel and Robert Huth so annoyed

Arsenal will be looking to continue the winning streak as Wenger seems to be getting increasingly comfortable with making changes. Leicester City, on the other hand, did put up a good fight until that unfortunate own goal. Once this season ends, they will need to seriously evaluate everything about their team ahead of next season.
