Antonio Conte has reiterated his commitment towards Tottenham Hotspur despite the disappointing defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Antonio Conte has been linked with a move away from Tottenham at the end of the season, especially with his contract expiring this summer. However, the Italian tactician has revealed that he is fully committed to the project at Spurs, and the defeat to Newcastle United will not change his mindset.
During the post-match presser, Conte said (h/t Tribal Football), “Yeah, for sure, this type of situation makes me frustrated because I would like to play this type of game, also in the Champions League, with the best team and then to have on the bench three, four or five good substitutions and not to try to invent situations you understand? But we knew this, and when I spoke before, I always said look we have just started the process for Tottenham to bring Tottenham into the best position to be more competitive to fight for something important, we have just started.
“For this reason, we need to cope with this situation. For me, it is not easy, it is not simple, but we have to cope and to manage the situation with experience and stay together. Today I don’t have complaints about the attitude, will and desire of the players because every single player performed. The attitude and effort was really strong and really big, but sometimes it is not enough. Tonight it was not enough to avoid a loss.”
Conte has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2023. And the two parties have not been able to agree on an extension yet. However, there have been rumours that Spurs will look to tie him down to a long-term contract soon. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that Conte is waiting for an offer from PSG or Real Madrid.
🇮🇹Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte admitted Spurs’ squad is not deep enough to sustain injuries and still be able to compete at a high level:

The Italian manager has a tendency to switch clubs from time to time, and he is not someone known to stick around at a club for a long period of time. But it seems that Conte is determined to succeed at Tottenham, and his recent revelations will certainly come as a major boost to the players and the fan base.
Tottenham have improved substantially since the arrival of the Italian manager. And they managed to secure Champions League qualification towards the end of last season. It will be interesting to see whether Conte can guide his side to a trophy this season.
Spurs have not won silverware for quite some time, and Conte will be desperate to end that drought. The north Londoners certainly have a squad capable of winning a domestic trophy this season.
Despite the defeat to Newcastle United, Tottenham have done reasonably well in the Premier League. And they will be aiming for a top three finish this season. A title challenge is likely to be beyond them given the kind of quality and depth at Manchester City.
Conte was backed significantly during the summer transfer window, and he brought in several quality players like Richarlison, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma, among others. The Italian manager will hope for a similar backing in the upcoming windows as well, as he looks to put together a formidable squad at Tottenham.
If Daniel Levy can match up to Conte’s ambitions, there is no reason why he won’t commit his long-term future to Tottenham.
