Amir Rrahmani’s agent responds to Manchester United links

Manchester United have been handed a major setback as Amir Rrahmani’s agent has opened up on Napoli star’s future intentions.

According to Calciomercato, Premier League giants Manchester United have been handed a setback in their pursuit of Napoli defender Amir Rrahmani.

The 28-year-old joined the the Partenopei in 2020 and has since established himself as a key player for the Serie A title hopefuls. He has since made 55 appearances for the club, scoring four times and assisting once.

A centre-back by trade, he is a capable defender who continues to hold his own in the Italian top flight. A decent passer, he can bring the ball out from the back and kick-start attacks. This augurs well for a Manchester United side that lacks a capable player in that department.

Any hopes the Red Devils had of landing the Kosovan international have taken a beating thanks to the player’s agent, Gazeta Blic. He has now shed light on Rrahmani’s plans for the immediate future.

“There are several clubs interested, but the boy in Naples is fine and wants to play the Champions League with the Azzurri.”

While several clubs, including Manchester United, remain interested, the player has his sights set on staying put at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Napoli are doing well under Luciano Spalletti and are currently just a point behind Serie A leaders AC Milan in the race for the Scudetto. With Champions League football set to return to Napoli next season, the Kosovan is keen to experience it with the Partenopei.

This is a far cry from what he will experience at Old Trafford. Manchester United are far from title contenders at this point, and it can be argued that a move to the Theatre of Dreams is a downgrade. The Red Devils are also fighting an uphill battle to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Napoli have not won the Scudetto since the days of Diego Maradona and doing so this season would see the current roster make history. Moreover, Rrahmani appears to be settled at Napoli and is a right fit for the club’s system.

A versatile player, Rrahmani can also play on either flank as a full-back when needed. This versatility offers him enough options to secure regular playtime. Amid Juventus’s fall from grace and Inter Milan’s drop off, Napoli are among the clubs vying for supremacy in Serie A. Rrahmani has a key role to play in the club’s fortunes, and it appears that he remains committed to the club’s cause.
