Amadou Haidara backed for Manchester United success

Kevin Campbell has backed Manchester United in their reported pursuit of Amadou Haidara, suggesting the 23-year-old will improve their options.

Ralf Rangnick might have managed just a single game at Manchester United, yet there have been plenty of transfer suggestions in the media already. Several players have already been linked with a move to Old Trafford, ranging from defenders to midfielders.

However, one area that particularly concerns Manchester United is the midfield, and there have been suggestions that the Red Devils want to refresh their options. Paul Pogba might leave when the season concludes, while Fred and Scott McTominay may not be long-term options.

Since Rangnick took over, Manchester United have been heavily linked with RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara, who has a history with the current Manchester United interim boss. The German signed the midfielder during his time with both Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig, which could prompt him to make another move, this time to Manchester United.

Leipzig are demanding Manchester United pay his £32 million release clause to sign him, something the Red Devils might be willing to do. Haidara certainly offers something different than the current options with his stylistic approach, and a move could become a possibility in the January window.

Kevin Campbell insists, Haidara will make Manchester United a better side, stating the midfielder will know the methods of Rangnick. He told Football Insider that signing the Malian international could be practical, sensible and in line with what the interim manager wants at the club.

Campbell said, “Any signing for Manchester United in the January window needs to be practical and sensible. Whoever comes in needs to be able to do a specific job in this Ralf Rangnick system. Haidara knows how to play that brand of football. He knows the specific job Rangnick wants. It’s an area where Man United are perhaps a little light, so I think, yes, he’d be a great signing.”

Apart from Haidara, Manchester United are also linked with John McGinn, among others, to freshen up their midfield options. The Leipzig man could be a long-term option at a time when changes are on the cards at the club, with bolstering the midfield unit considered crucial to begin with.
