Amad Diallo reveals Manchester United players’ thoughts on Michael Carrick

Amad Diallo has revealed that Manchester United players beleive Michael Carrick is the right man to be the club’s permanent manager going forward.

Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim at the start of the year, Michael Carrick was handed the reins of his former club on an interim basis until the end of the season. The 44-year-old has managed to completely transform the mood within Old Trafford.

He has led them in ten league games, winning seven, drawing two and losing just once. Following their impressive run under Carrick, they have climbed up to third on the table and look well set to secure Champions League football for next season. While there is still a lot of talk about his future at the club, the players seem to believe he is the right man to lead them.

During a press conference at the club’s training camp outside Dublin, Amad Diallo was asked about the managerial situation, and he revealed that the players want Carrick to continue at the club.

He said via SkySports, “Obviously it’s not for us as a player to decide his future, but he’s been very great, he’s been doing so much for the team. He has a lot of experience, he knows the club and has the DNA. We think he’s the right man, but we are really happy for what he’s doing right now.

“Since he’s arrived he’s been clear to everyone that he wants to win, he wants to reach the Champions League next season, working with each player. He’s been doing really well and we’re really happy to have him as the manager.

“Sometimes this kind of manager can bring a club where they belong. From my personal side he’s the right man but it’s not the players who decide, but we are really happy to have him as a manager.”

Michael Carrick has certainly made a massive impact at the club, and they are considering offering him the job on a permanent basis. But they won’t rush into any decisions. The Manchester-based giants will only make any decisions after the end of the season.

However, Diallo certainly seems to be loving life under the former Manchester United star. He, as well as other players in the squad, would love to have him continue in the hot seat. Meanwhile, Bryan Mbeumo, who was sitting next to Amad in the press conference, admitted that the players are enjoying working with the 44-year-old.

Mbeumo said, “We’ve got good experience with him, playing under him as well. As [Amad] said, it’s not for us to decide, but we’re going to try to take as much as we can from him. He knows the DNA of the club, he knows how to talk to us as well, I think it’s been easier because he knows the place. It’s been great to work under him.”

The players certainly seem to be loving life under him, and they want Carrick to continue. Manchester United’s board will keep looking at other options, but there are high chances of them handing the former Middlesbrough boss the job permanently if they do return to the Champions League.
