Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been linked with a move away from the Merseyside club this summer, with Saudi Pro League outfits interested.

Alisson Becker has reportedly been a target for multiple Saudi Arabian clubs. However, the 31-year-old has chosen to turn down the opportunity to leave the Premier League club this summer.

The veteran goalkeeper has now revealed in an interview with The Times that he wants to honour his contract at Liverpool and that he is very happy at the Premier League club.

Alisson also revealed that there was interest from Saudi Arabia but that the talks were not advanced. The 31-year-old believes that he is still young for a goalkeeper, and he wants to compete at the highest level for now. However, the Brazilian added that he is open to a move to Saudi Arabia in the near future.

“I never got to the point where I was talking about wages and things like this. It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That is normal. At the end of the day, you play football for love, it is the thing you like to do, but it is our profession and we want to use the years that we have to make the most of it. I think I am open to that personally but not now. Now is not the time.”

It will be interesting to see if the Saudi Arabian clubs decide to come back for him at the end of the season.

Alisson wants Liverpool stay

The fact that the 31-year-old wants to stay at Liverpool will come as a huge boot for the club and their fans. He is a world-class player and he is undoubtedly the best goalkeeper in the league. Alisson has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success in recent seasons and he has played a key role in their trophy wins since joining the club. Losing him would be a devastating blow for the club.

Apart from the fact that he is a world class goalkeeper, he is one of the leaders of the dressing room as well. Liverpool simply cannot afford to lose players of his quality if they want to challenge major trophies every season. The Brazilian is a key part of the team’s spine and the Reds must look to hold onto him for as long as possible.
