Sergio Ramos nearly went from hero to zero before Dani Carvajal struck an open goal to ensure a 2-1 win for Real Madrid over Alaves at the Mendizorrotza.
After a dull first half, the game sprang into life when Sergio Ramos headed Real Madrid into the lead in the 52nd, nodding the ball in from a Toni Kroos cross. 13 minutes later, Ramos fouled Joselu to concede a penalty, which was converted by Lucas Perez to bring the game back to level terms.
Shortly after, though, Real Madrid had their lead back, as Dani Carvajal scored from point-blank range to make it 2-1. The visitors held on to their slender advantage and reached the summit of La Liga. And, Ramos was the hotly-discussed topic on social media after an all-action outing.

Sergio Ramos is an elite defender but he does give away penalties way too often and is rash with his tackles most of the time.

Why does Ramos do this? I mean what’s the point? It’s just putting your team under unnecessary pressure, as much as I adore him, it’s impossible for Madrid fans not to have a bitter taste of frustration when it comes to Ramos.

Toni Kroos was in a league of his own once again, standing out as the best midfielder in the game. And, Real Madrid fans were full of praise for the Germany playmaker.

Toni Kroos has been exceptional this season. Performing great in every match consistently. This season, he has been on a whole new level, no other midfielder touches that level. Attacking wise, defending wise, a complete package.

But, the game belonged to Eder Militao, who was immensely impressive in a rare start in defence.
DEFENSIVE MONSTERCLASS by Ramos and Militao. What a signing he is turning out to be for us. Rock solid at the back, Clearly wins header and ball in the air. Complements Ramos in the defence. ELITE ❤️#HalaMadridYNadaMas #AlavesRealMadrid pic.twitter.com/xkQGTF06KQ

Everytime he plays, he proves that every penny that was spent for him was worth it.
What a player Eder Militão is. Club’s smartest move is looking up at him before anyone else did, he definitely wouldn’t have been available for long with the immense quality he possesses. pic.twitter.com/CWBkqtftZ9
