Tottenham suffer a blow in their pursuit of Adi Hutter, as he is not keen on returning to management until the start of the new season.
After days of speculation, Tottenham finally parted ways with Igor Tudor on Sunday. The Croatian manager could only survive for 44 days on the Spurs’ hot seat. Following his departure, the North London club are looking for an interim manager who can help them survive the drop.
Former AS Monaco boss Adi Hutter has been linked with the Tottenham job of late. But he has ruled himself out with his recent comments while speaking to Sky Sports in Austria.
The 56-year-old said, “In recent days and weeks, I have been increasingly linked with various clubs.
“However, as I already stated immediately after my time at Monaco, I would prefer not to work as a head coach again until the start of the new season at the earliest.
“My position on that matter has not changed since then.”
Hutter has a wealth of experience under his belt. He has done well in both the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 during his managerial career. He prefers playing an attacking brand of football, and his 4-2-3-1 system could actually bring the best out of the Tottenham squad.
Hutter won’t be taking the Tottenham job
With the North London club 17th in the Premier League and just a point above the drop zone, Hutter could have been a great choice to help them survive with just seven games to go. However, he has ruled out a return to management at this point.
The 56-year-old doesn’t intend to make an immediate return. He wants to wait until the end of the season and will only join a new club in the summer to prepare for the new season.
Spurs certainly find themselves in deep waters, as they have brought in Tudor to steady the ship following the sacking of Thomas Frank. However, the move didn’t work out as the Croatian could only manage a point in his five league outings.
On the back of that run, one of the biggest clubs in England are now on the verge of being relegated to the second division. They are struggling to find someone who can take over as manager until the end of the season. Hutter is not the only one to dismiss reports linking him with Tottenham, as Sean Dyche has also ruled out taking the Spurs job.
