Manchester United have no problem paying compensation fee for Eddie Howe

Manchester United are open to paying the compensation fee required to lure Eddie Howe, with the former Newcastle United manager reportedly open to the move.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United will not hesitate to pay the compensation fee required to bring in Eddie Howe. The former Newcastle United boss appears to still be contracted to the St. James’ Park outfit, and he would reportedly be open to taking over from Michael Carrick in the coming period.

Manchester United are in a difficult position at the moment, with the club still deliberating their next steps regarding the managerial position. Amid a series of poor results on the pitch, the pressure is squarely on Michael Carrick to bring positivity and galvanise the team.

However, things are nowhere near being sorted out, either on the field or behind the scenes, as reports state Carrick could be given more time to turn things around. Either way, the Englishman is walking on thin ice, and it could be a matter of time before Manchester United pull the plug.

There are already names mentioned in media reports regarding who might replace Carrick should he be sacked. The list includes Eddie Howe, with director Jason Wilcox pushing to bring the former Newcastle United boss to Old Trafford. There are suggestions that contact has been made with the 48-year-old managerial target, which would indicate that the club are moving ahead with this particular idea.

Manchester United ready to compensate Newcastle United

Howe is seemingly still contracted to Newcastle United, with the report stating that if Manchester United want him, they must pay compensation of up to £3 million. The Red Devils consider themselves open to paying that amount to bring the 48-year-old to Old Trafford, although they might still negotiate with the Magpies to reach an understanding.

Further reports have stated that if Howe takes over at Old Trafford, he would reunite with assistant manager Jason Tindall and first-team coach Stephen Purches, with the duo having worked closely with him at Newcastle United. Overall, there is a feeling that the 48-year-old managerial target could be the main contender to replace Carrick.

A report from Football Insider states that Howe is seemingly ready to end his break from football management and take over at Old Trafford to become Manchester United’s next manager. Things could move quickly once Carrick learns his fate, as it feels like a matter of time before Howe takes over, especially if the team perform badly in the upcoming games before the international break.
