Crystal Palace identify Scott Parker as Pierre Sage replacement

Crystal Palace are already considering replacement options should they sack Pierre Sage, with former Burnley boss Scott Parker emerging as a possible candidate.

According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace could hold talks with Parker as they prepare to decide Sage’s future at the club. The former Burnley manager is currently available and could be considered if the Eagles dismiss the under-fire Frenchman following a disastrous start to the season and a heavy defeat to Brighton.

There had been suggestions that Crystal Palace would make a firm decision on Sage’s future based on how the team performed at the weekend. Their match against arch-rivals Brighton ended in a 5-0 thrashing, adding significant pressure on the French manager.

Sage arrived during the summer to replace Oliver Glasner, having built a strong reputation for his work with Lens, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season. However, he has endured a difficult start at Selhurst Park and has so far managed only two league victories, against Fulham away from home and, more recently, Nottingham Forest at home, with Glasner in the opposing dugout.

Before that, Sage oversaw a 3-2 Europa League defeat to Lyon, with the manager already under considerable pressure following a poor run of results. Several factors have contributed to the growing concern, including the team’s performances and reports of possible issues within the dressing room.

Crystal Palace to consider Scott Parker?

Crystal Palace are keeping their options open regarding Sage’s future and are now expected to make a decision soon. Several names have already been mentioned as potential replacements, including former Wolves boss Rob Edwards, but another candidate has now emerged.

Scott Parker is reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for Sage. The 46-year-old former Chelsea midfielder, who most recently managed Burnley, is currently out of work and could offer Palace valuable experience of English football.

Parker has not enjoyed consistent success in the Premier League and has experienced relegation three times during his managerial career. As a result, appointing the former Burnley boss would carry an element of risk if Palace decide to make him Sage’s successor.

Although Parker could be viewed as a progressive choice, supporters may prefer a manager with a stronger record, meaning other candidates are likely to remain under consideration.
