Chelsea poised to sack Liam Rosenior at the end of the season

Premier League giants Chelsea reportedly look set to part ways with Liam Rosenior after the end of the ongoing campaign.

It has only been three months since Liam Rosenior took charge as the Chelsea boss, and it seems his time at Stamford Bridge will soon come to an end. According to a report from Football Insider, people at the London club see him as a “dead man walking”, and they could end up showing him the exit door at the end of the season.

Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca at the start of the new year. While the Italian tactician had done an impressive job last season, results were not really going their way this time around. More importantly, his relations with the board broke down, which led to his departure.

While the Blues were linked with a number of candidates, they ended up appointing Rosenior as their new boss. The 41-year-old had been working for BlueCo since the summer of 2024. Given the kind of work he had done at their French club, RC Strasbourg, they were confident about him having the desired impact at Stamford Bridge.

As a result, the West London club ended up handing him a long-term deal that runs until the summer of 2032. However, the Englishman has not backed up the appointment with results on the pitch. The team has not really improved under Rosenior. He has led them in 20 matches, and they average just 1.75 points per match.

While Chelsea cruised to a 7-0 win over Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-final, they had lost four successive matches prior to that victory, bowing out of the UEFA Champions League and falling to sixth in the Premier League standings.

Rosenior seems to have lost the dressing room

The players are not really pleased with how things are working at the club. Not only are they frustrated with how Enzo Fernandez has been handed a two-game ban for talking about living in Madrid, but they were also surprised by Maresca’s sacking and Rosenior’s appointment, because of his lack of experience.

Given how things have panned out in recent weeks, the board seems to have realised that the decision to appoint Rosenior might not have been the best call. As a result, Chelsea have started laying the groundwork to sack the 41-year-old English tactician after the end of the ongoing campaign. They are already in the market looking for their next boss.
