Tottenham face a conundrum with Sean Dyche as they view the former Everton and Nottingham Forest boss as a top candidate for the job.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham could be hit with an unwanted complication in their pursuit of Sean Dyche to become their next manager. Spurs are in a conundrum with regards to appointing their next head coach, as the threat of relegation adds an extra layer of complexity in their pursuit of top targets, including Dyche.
Tottenham are in a bit of a soup heading into the final seven games of their Premier League season. The north Londoners are hanging on to the next available safety spot following their 3-0 thrashing at home against Nottingham Forest before the international break, which has since seen the club confirm the sacking of interim boss Igor Tudor.
The plan was to dismiss the Croat in the current international break following one point from their last five Premier League games. Spurs are looking for an immediate replacement to carry on the job and help the team avoid relegation, as reports stated they were in talks with former Monaco boss Adi Hutter, among others.
Roberto De Zerbi was seen as a top contender, but the former Marseille boss has had considerable doubts about taking over Spurs at this stage. He might be open to it if they manage to stay up in the Premier League, and Tottenham view the Italian as their top contender for the present and future. Fabrizio Romano confirmed talks are underway between the two parties, but a decision is yet to be made.
Sean Dyche was another name mentioned of late, with the former Everton and Nottingham Forest boss having considerable doubts himself about taking over the North London club. Furthermore, there are complications with appointing Dyche, which could leave Tottenham in a state of conundrum about who their next manager would be.
What are the complications with Dyche?
Sean Dyche was heavily linked last week, but he dismissed the notion of ongoing talks, although he remains a target. However, should Spurs appoint Dyche, the 54-year-old could face complications with his compensation package agreed with Nottingham Forest when he was dismissed from the job.
Moreover, should the Englishman agree to become Tottenham’s next boss, he reportedly wants a contract until 2027 rather than a short-term deal, which is currently being mooted. Hence, Spurs may have to make a firm decision on their pursuit of Dyche, which might require them to hand him a longer deal rather than the one they planned, which was until the end of the current season.
