Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid suffer a blow in their pursuit of Como manager Cesc Fabregas.
Cesc Fabregas has been doing wonders for Como in the Serie A, and his work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all keen on having the former Chelsea midfielder on their bench. But according to Fichajes, the Spanish manager is hesitant to leave the Italian club this summer.
Fabregas took charge of Como on a permanent basis in the summer of 2024, and he has had a sensational impact at the club. He has taken them from a relegation-threatened club to being a European contender.
While it is only their second season in the Italian top flight, Como are fourth on the table and look set to secure Champions League football. Fabregas has taken them places with his attacking and attractive style of football, and it has put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
European giants want Fabregas on their bench
His contract at Como runs until the summer of 2028, but a host of top clubs are ready to lure him away this summer. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid all consider him one of the best young managers going around and would love to have him on their bench.
City seem to have the most concrete interest in the 38-year-old, with Pep Guardiola’s future up in the air. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also interested in his services, with Mikel Arteta’s future to be assessed after the end of the season.
As far as Real Madrid are concerned, they could also be in the market for a new manager, as there is no clarity over the long-term future of Alvaro Arbeloa. While there is no shortage of interest in Fabregas, the Arsenal legend is not sure about his immediate future.
He could look to continue at Como for another season to compete in the Champions League, which is a reward for all the hard work he has put in over the last two seasons. His decision could have a massive impact on the future of a number of managers, given the stature of clubs that are after him.
