Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in appointing 46-year-old Italian tactician Roberto De Zerbi as their next manager.
Roberto De Zerbi is currently unemployed after his exit from Marseille, and he could prove to be a quality addition for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to appoint him as their next full-time head coach.
According to a report from The Daily Telegraph, De Zerbi is prepared to take over at Tottenham if they can secure Premier League safety. Spurs are currently fighting for survival in the top flight, and they will need to raise their performance levels if they want to stay in the Premier League next season. They are 17th in the table, with seven wins from 31 matches.
Roberto De Zerbi to fix the mess at Spurs?
Tottenham started the season with Thomas Frank, and he was shown the door after a series of disappointing performances. The appointment of Igor Tudor has not gone according to plan, either, and the North Londoners have won just one game since his arrival.
Tudor is an interim option for Spurs, and he will be relieved of his duties in the summer. Meanwhile, De Zerbi has managed in the Premier League with Brighton & Hove Albion, and there is no doubt that he has the Pedigree to succeed in English football.
The Italian tactician even reached 1.51 points per game with the Seagulls during his time in England. He also guided them to a top-six finish, their first-ever European qualification. At Marseille, he secured a top-two finish before leaving the club.
De Zerbi would be a superb option
The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager is highly regarded, and Tottenham would do well to secure his services. They are keeping tabs on former manager Mauricio Pochettino as well. The North London club has already held talks with De Zerbi regarding a potential move, and it remains to be seen whether they can fulfil his condition and beat the drop this season.
Tottenham have quality players at their disposal, and they should be nowhere near the bottom three. A quality manager could help them turn things around next season. De Zerbi could be the right man to get the best out of their players and help them compete at a high level.
