Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is under a lot of pressure after his disappointing start to life at the West London club.
Liam Rosenior was brought in as a replacement for Enzo Maresca, but things have not gone according to plan. The Blues a have struggled under him, picking up just three wins from the last nine matches. They have also exited the UEFA Champions League in the round of 16. Naturally, there is speculation surrounding his long-term future at the club.
According to a report by Football Insider, Chelsea would be prepared to persist with their choice and give him more time to turn things around. They need more stability in terms of managerial appointments, and giving Rosenior more time certainly makes sense. The Blues will give him “as much time as possible” to try and turn their fortunes around.
Liam Rosenior did well in France
The English tactician was highly rated during his time at RC Strasbourg, where he averaged 1.69 points per match, and helped them secure UEFA Europa League qualification. He built a talented, young and high-energy team at the Ligue 1 club. He was expected to do a similar job at Chelsea, but that has not worked out so far.
That said, the sample size at Chelsea is quite small, and it would be reckless to dismiss him right away. The West London outfit should give him until the end of the season to turn things around. If he fails to demonstrate progress, the Blues should then explore other avenues.
Can Rosenior secure UEFA Champions League qualification?
Chelsea are currently fighting for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season. They are sixth in the Premier League table, and a top-five finish will secure Champions League football for the upcoming campaign. There is no doubt they have quality players at their disposal, and Rosenior should do everything in his power to get the best out of them.
His Strasbourg team excelled with their pressing and transitions. Such qualities have been nonexistent at Chelsea. The team is clearly adapting to their new manager, and it remains to be seen whether they can turn on the style in the remaining matches of the season.
