Harry Redknapp linked with Tottenham return

Tottenham will look to bring Harry Redknapp back to the club if they decide to sack Igor Tudor in the near future.

After sacking Thomas Frank, Tottenham Hotspur handed the reins to Igor Tudor on a temporary basis, appointing the Croatian manager on a short-term deal until the end of the season. The idea was that he would help steady the ship and buy them time to appoint a permanent manager ahead of next season.

However, things haven’t gone according to plan. Tudor hasn’t had the desired impact, and while he hasn’t even been around for a month, he is already under pressure to save his job. According to a report from SportsBoom, Spurs will turn to fan favourite Harry Redknapp if they decide to sack the Croatian manager.

After taking charge last month, Tudor has led them in three Premier League games against Arsenal, Fulham and Crystal Palace. The North London club have suffered defeat in all three fixtures, and they are now just a point off the drop zone with just nine games to go.

Harry Redknapp could replace Tudor

Spurs look set for an intense transfer battle, and a few more poor results could seriously complicate matters. As per reports, Tudor has been given two more games to save his job: the Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid and the league games against Liverpool on Sunday.

If he fails to turn things around in the next two games, the board will be forced to take a big call. Former Tottenham boss Redknapp has been tipped to make a dramatic return to the club to save them from the drop. At 79, he would become the oldest manager in the Premier League if he returned to the club.

It will certainly be a massive gamble, as the veteran manager who was in charge of the North London club from  2008 to 2012 hasn’t been involved in management over the past nine years. Spurs are looking at other alternatives, and Redknapp’s return might be a last resort for them.
