Former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez is open to a move to Manchester United as well as Tottenham, as he looks to return to the bench.
Manchester United and Tottenham are both on the lookout for their next permanent manager while they continue to plan for the upcoming transfer window. Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has emerged as a potential option for the Premier League clubs.
According to a report from Fichajes, Xavi is seriously considering the option of taking the United or Spurs job. He is keen on returning to the sidelines and is very open to a move to the Premier League.
Xavi made a name for himself as a manager while leading Al-Sadd. He then returned to his former club, Barcelona, towards the end of 2021. During his time at the Catalan club as a manager, he was involved in 143 matches, and he averaged 2.07 points per game.
While he did win a league title and the Spanish Super Cup, he was shown the exit door mid-way through 2024. Since parting ways with the Spanish giants, Xavi has had quite a few offers to return to the managerial world.
Premier League duo are interested in Xavi
But the 46-year-old has turned down every offer, as he is waiting for the perfect project. The former Barcelona midfielder is reportedly keen on managing a top English club, and he could soon have that opportunity as United and Tottenham are keen on his services.
Both clubs sacked their permanent managers mid-season and brought in someone to guide them until the end of the season. Michael Carrick took charge of the Red Devils, while Igor Tudor was handed the reins of the North London club on a temporary basis.
United have been linked with Xavi for some time now, but it seems their interest has cooled a touch, as Carrick’s exceptional work has made him a serious contender for the permanent role. As far as Spurs are concerned, Tudor is on a short-term deal, and he is unlikely to be handed the job full-time.
Xavi is a serious contender because of what he did at the Spanish club. His emphasis on possession and his competitive nature make him a perfect fit for the club, who want to rebuild a project from scratch. They believe his arrival could be a turning point for the North London club as a whole.
