Sean Dyche keen on replacing Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace

Sean Dyche is reportedly eager to take over as the new head coach at Crystal Palace after Oliver Glasner departs from Selhurst Park in a few months.

According to a report by Football Insider, Sean Dyche is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are scouring the managerial market for a long-term replacement for Oliver Glasner, with the Austrian tactician revealing a few weeks ago that he would leave the South London club after the 2025/26 season. Meanwhile, Dyche is ready to replace Glasner at Selhurst Park this summer.

Sean Dyche and his career so far

Sean Dyche has been one of the most polarising managers in the Premier League in the last decade. A centre-back during his time as a footballer, the Englishman went under the radar during his professional career before hanging up his boots in 2007. He entered the managerial sphere in 2011 by taking over at Watford.

However, the 54-year-old rose in prominence during his spell with Burnley, which began a year later, and spent a decade with the Clarets. Not only did Dyche guide Burnley to the Premier League soon after taking over as the manager, but he also oversaw UEFA Europa League qualification in the 2017/18 season.

However, since leaving Burnley, Dyche has endured a topsy-turvy ride, having short spells with Everton and Nottingham Forest. Nevertheless, the English tactician’s stock remains high, with Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer.

London calling?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Sean Dyche is understandable. The Eagles have been combing the market for a new head coach since Oliver Glasner announced he would be leaving the South London club after the 2025/26 season. There have also been suggestions that Crystal Palace may dip into the market for an interim appointment, with recent reports linking them with Gareth Southgate.

However, Crystal Palace’s priority is to sign a long-term replacement for Glasner, with several candidates, including Thomas Frank, emerging on the Premier League club’s wishlist. Dyche is also a target for Palace, with the former Everton head coach ready to take over from Glasner this summer.

However, the report has revealed that Crystal Palace “have not placed him near the top of the pecking order when it comes to their list of targets” to replace Glasner. Nevertheless, with Dyche eager to become the next head coach, it will be interesting to see if the 54-year-old Englishman arrives at Selhurst Park in the coming months.
