Mauricio Pochettino pushing for Tottenham return

Tottenham have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino, as he is keen on a return to the North London club.

Having parted ways with Thomas Frank, Tottenham are now on the lookout for a new manager. While the North London club have been linked with quite a few high-profile names, Mauricio Pochettino is by far the biggest name on that list for Spurs fans.

Pochettino has been linked with a return to the club, and the board will certainly love to have the Argentine manager lead their new project. They have already received a massive boost in their pursuit, as he seems keen on the switch.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 53-year-old would jump at the chance to manage the North London club for a second time.

Mauricio Pochettino took charge of Tottenham back in 2014 and had a five-year-long stint at the club. During his time in North London, he led them in 293 matches and averaged 1.84 points per game. More importantly, he guided them to the UEFA Champions League final as well.

After parting ways with Spurs, the 53-year-old had a stint at Chelsea before taking charge as the United States manager. While Pochettino is currently focused on helping the USA do their best at the World Cup, he is aware of the fact that Tottenham are looking for a new manager.

Pochettino is ready to return to Tottenham

The 53-year-old has privately made it clear that he would jump at the opportunity to manage them again. Mauricio Pochettino has a special bond with the club and the fans, and he would love to return. However, it won’t be that straightforward, as Spurs will have to wait until the end of the World Cup for him to be available.

Tottenham can only appoint the USMNT head coach if they are willing to take the gamble of waiting until the summer. They will have to name an interim or caretaker manager for the time being. Roberto De Zerbi, Robbie Keane, and John Heitinga are all being considered for the full-time role at this point.

Spurs could consider handing Keane the job on a temporary basis until Pochettino is available. During Frank’s final game in charge, the fans sang the Argentine manager’s name, making it clear that they want him back at the club. As a result, it will be interesting to see how things develop.
