Benjamin Sesko will miss out on a place in the Manchester United starting lineup when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United will be eager to continue the unbeaten run in the Premier League when they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. Michael Carrick has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Mason Mount was the latest absentee last weekend after sustaining a muscular injury ahead of the game against Fulham. The English international accompanies Matthijs de Ligt (lower back) and Patrick Dorgu (hamstring) in the treatment room.
Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Carrick provided fitness updates on Mount, de Ligt, and Dorgu. The English tactician revealed that Mount would be the first to return from the treatment room.
The Manchester United head coach said, “Probably, Mason [will be available] sooner. He’s not too far away really. We’re hopeful it won’t be too long. Matta [de Ligt], he’s working his way back, taking good steps and improving.”
“It’s a little bit too soon at the moment but, hopefully, it won’t be too long [before de Ligt is back]. The boys have worked well this week, they’ve got their feet on the ground and are not getting carried away with what’s going on. It’s a big challenge ahead.”
Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw. So, Noussair Mazraoui will miss out on a spot in the starting lineup again.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the double pivot, with Bruno Fernandes reprising the no. 10 role. Finally, Bryan Mbeumo will continue to lead the line for the home side against Tottenham, with Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo being the two wide attackers. So, Benjamin Sesko will be a backup option on the bench again for the Red Devils.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Cunha; Mbeumo
