Predicted Manchester United lineup against Arsenal: Mbeumo up front again; Mazraoui in contention

Noussair Mazraoui will return to the Manchester United squad when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.

Manchester United will be eager to build on the solid start to life under Michael Carrick when they lock horns with Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday evening. Carrick has received a positive update on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Noussair Mazraoui is available for a Premier League game after a month, as he has returned after his commitment in the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco. Additionally, Shea Lacey is available again after serving a suspension in the Premier League clash with Manchester City last weekend.

So, Matthijs de Ligt is the only absentee for the away side as he continues to recover from a lower back injury. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference and an interview with the club media, Carrick discussed his squad’s progress.

During his presser, the Manchester United boss said, “I’m not going to tell you the team first off [laughs]. No, everyone came through the game really well actually. I can’t tell you anything, apart from the obvious.”

In a separate interview with MUTV, he added, “The boys are in a really good place, off the back of last week. They’re training really well, so I can see how much they’re in it and focused and feed off the energy. The boys came through it really well [last weekend]. It was big, there’s no getting away from it, an emotional day, physically and mentally, and a big lift.”

“In terms of the levels, it was huge but the boys came through it really well. They had a day or two to rest but trained really hard and well for a couple of days, and freshed up for the game, so we’re in a good place. We’re looking forward to a real challenge, one for us we’re going down to face head on.”

Meanwhile, discussing de Ligt’s progress, the Manchester United boss said, “I think it was just a little bit slower than initially hoped but he’s certainly getting closer. Hopefully, the next couple of weeks, without putting an exact timeline on it, hell be back and it’ll be great to have him back.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Arsenal on Sunday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw. So, Mazraoui will be a backup option on the bench.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the double pivot. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, with Patrick Dorgu and Amad Diallo being the two wide attackers. Finally, Bryan Mbeumo will lead the line for the away side against Arsenal. So, Mason Mount, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko will be among the backup options on the bench.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo
