Tottenham chiefs are not planning to pursue former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim should they sack Thomas Frank in the coming period.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are not planning to pursue a move for Ruben Amorim in the event of Thomas Frank’s dismissal. The former Manchester United manager left Old Trafford recently, but Spurs chiefs have other names on their list of potential replacements for the under-fire Dane.
Thomas Frank’s future appears to be on the brink at Tottenham, with internal discussions set to take place to determine the Dane’s future. The weekend’s loss to West Ham United may have triggered a chain of events that may not allow the former Brentford boss the time required to turn things around, especially after the fans were vocal in their need for change.
The pressure is truly on Frank at the moment, but more so on Tottenham to find an able replacement in a tight market for managers. There are some names being mentioned, including former Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, while the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Oliver Glasner are also being linked.
Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler is also a target as per recent reports, as Tottenham are widening their net as much as possible to find the right candidate before deciding Frank’s immediate future. Another name that was doing the rounds of late in relation to the Spurs job is that of former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim was sacked by Manchester United following a run of bad results and his public comments about the board. While he ticks many boxes with regard to what Tottenham may want from their next manager, the club chiefs are not planning to pursue a move for the Portuguese.
No Tottenham move for Ruben Amorim?
The Tottenham chiefs are concerned about the manner in which Amorim left Manchester United, and they are not keen to appoint him at the club at the current moment. They might angle moves for other names, although there’s a chance the former Manchester United manager might stay on their list as a floating option if they cannot achieve their top targets.
Amorim’s future is currently undecided as he might stay out of management until the end of the season before finding a new club. He could be an option for some of the Premier League teams, but that may not include Tottenham, who may also want a manager with a different style to that of the former Manchester United manager.
