Barcelona have reportedly identified 38-year-old Como manager Cesc Fabregas as an ideal long-term replacement for Hansi Flick.
Hansi Flick has done wonders for Barcelona since taking charge in the summer of 2024. He guided them to the La Liga title in his debut campaign and has certainly brought in a lot of stability. The board is very happy with him, and even the German manager is loving life at the Catalan club.
While the immediate future looks very promising for the club under Flick, they have already started planning for the future. In case Flick decides to leave the club in the future, the Catalan giants have already identified an ideal replacement. According to a report from Fichajes, Barcelona consider Cesc Fabregas as the best possible replacement for the German manager.
Flick still has 18 months left on his deal, and Barcelona are hoping he will extend his stay further. However, if he decides to part ways with the club in the summer of 2027, the Spanish giants want to be prepared for such a scenario.
They are already working on long-term scenarios and have identified a natural successor to take his place on their bench when the time comes. Cesc Fabregas is their preferred choice to be their next manager.
Fabregas is the right man for Barcelona
Fabregas started his managerial career at Como, and he took over as their full-time manager in the summer of 2024. He has done wonders for them with his attacking 4-2-3-1 setup, and under him, the team averages 1.59 points per game.
Not only has he helped them secure promotion to the top flight, but he has also helped them establish themselves as a mid-table club in the Serie A. The former Barcelona player is enjoying a rather impressive spell as Como’s manager, and since his style of football is very similar to that of Flick, the Catalan giants feel he will be the right man to take over from the German manager when the time comes.
Having trained at La Masia and played for the club during one of its most successful periods, Fabregas is well aware of how things work there. More importantly, he has an emotional connection with the club, and his return would be cherished by everyone.
